Víctor Puertas & The Mellow Tones (CAT)

Saturday, July 15, 2017 - 20:00

Main Program

In the words of a well-known musical journalist: "The Catalan blues scene is practically inexhaustible. It has past, present and, probably, a lot of future". And this is undoubtedly one of the best examples. The singer and harp player Víctor Puertas, is one of the most emblematic names of the blues made in the city of Barcelona. As a component, along with his brother Santos Puertas, of Suitcase Brothers (who were 2nd Prize at the International Blues Challenge 2013 in Memphis) or as a member of some of the most important formations of the city, his quality as a musician and multi-instrumentalist is simply overwhelming, earning praise from legends like Jerry Portnoy. Now we have the opportunity to enjoy the project he currently leads: Víctor Puertas & The Mellow Tones. With their first album released, the Mellow Tones are a luxury lineup that includes Oscar Rabadan, Reginald Vilardell, Johnny Big Stone and Oriol Fontanals. A band that demonstrates the great sensibility that the musicians of our city have in the interpretation of this universal Afro-American cultural expression.
